Sunny Side Up! is a place for me, a gal who is 21 years of age and unanimously recognized in her tiny universe as an 'old soul', to store a few of my favorite things & to share them with new and (hopefully) friendly individuals.
I am officially crazy for this 1997 music video from Sir Paul McCartney. My father showed me this earlier today. Be sure not to miss a few glances of the lovely Linda and Ringo, too!
My mother and I were addicted to said game in the late 90s. I'd stay up far past my 9:30 bed time and be oh so tired at school the next day. Nerd extraordinaire! Also, this is from that show that they use as comedic fodder on MXC , which I admittedly once watched far too much of not so long ago.
I'm one that usually doesn't go for the dry humor of British television but, this segment from a 90s comedy program; Harry Enfield and Chums , off the BBC is great.
There are similar videos to be had here and here .
Forget Dora, pretend Yo Gabba, Gabba never existed; I miss Shari & Lamb Chop! I was four, five and EVERY SINGLE DAY I had to watch them. I bawled when they cancelled her in favor of that purple blob they called a dinosaur. A compilation including a swell variation on ?Do, Re, Mi:
And the part I liked best:
Along with Shari & her puppet posse, my father and I watched Mr. Roger's Neighborhood every night when he would get home from work. You know how he would occasionally visit different places of work within 'the neighborhood' and they would cut to the street to show that he was going somewhere? I would be sitting on the floor and I would pound my feet on the ground pretending to 'walk' along with him to the music shop or the bakery or what have you.
My all time favorite thing about this show however, was not "The Land of Make Believe." I was nuts for Picture, Picture:
Coincidentally, my brother's first favorite television show was Shining Time Station:
Can you believe Mr. Conductor was George Carlin ? I never understood how funny that was until years later, of course. I am four years older than my brother so, I was getting too 'cool' for such shows by the time this came around but, I too, had a part that I secretly liked and no, it wasn't the "Thomas, the Tank Engine hullabaloo. It was the jukebox!
Ah, now, that was great children's entertainment!
What were some of your childhood television favorites?
my tastes are eclectic, to say the least.
I love the 40s and 50s, pre-code Hollywood, Broadway, crooners and songbirds, day dressses and red lips and nails; everything Grandma misses, I prefer.
Lucille Desiree Ball has saved me from the throngs of death. She's constantly on my television and in my heart.
I would love to get to know as many of you incredible people as I can. I've been an incessant blog reader/lurker for awhile now but, expect that to change dramatically as I allow my thoughts and opinions to pour forth without inhibitions on this, my baby blog, and in comments throughout the blogosphere.
I hope you won't mind. :-)
