Note to self:

Happiness is a DECISION.

This started me off on a good foot this morning by thinking in a positive manner. I hope it turns your thinking around for the day!

Lucy at the Emmy's!

In 1975, Lucy was set to present The Mary Tyler Moore Show with their Emmy for their win in Outstanding Comedy, Music, or Variety Series; when things went awry:

Thanks to egexacom for uploading this!

The thing is, right before she was set to go on, Lucy recieved a call informing her that Desi, Jr. had been involved in a fatal car accident. It was discovered right before she went onstage that it had been a prank call and that Desi, Jr. was alive and well so, not surprisingly, Lucy is still shaken by that experience and her mind is somewhere else.

The Phantom of the Opera.

Hello loves!
How was everyone's weekend?
Mine was fantastic!!

I traveled by bus to NYC to see The Phantom of the Opera and there are no words to describe what an incredible experience that was.

We were seated IN THE FRONT ROW and, by front row, I mean we were so close that I could hear the performer's breathing.

Ahhhh.

We also traversed Madame Tussaud's wax museum before our 2PM showing.
Its quite obvious that I am unable to put my admiration and respect for such undeniable talent into words and so, I'll post a few craptastic photos and a clip olf my favorite part of the production.

New York, New York:

The Famous Sardi's (No I did not eat there but, have any of you? Was it worth it?:

Madame Trussaud's:

Francis Albert & myself:

My homegirl, Lucy & I:

The Phantom's Chandelier:

The Orchestra Pit:

MASQUERADE; the London cast but, you get the idea:

Its as if I'm still under its spell..I'm just dazzled.

Have you seen any Broadway productions? If so, which ones and if you've seen several, which was your favorite?

My Life in Lyrics, 1.

Billy Talent

Have you ever heard a song or, more specifically, a lyric, that pinpoints you or where you are in life just perfectly? I'm hearing more and more these days that appear to have been written with me in mind.

from River Below by Billy Talent:
I'm sick and
I'm twisted;
I'm broke and you can't fix it.
Don't make me,
'Cause I'll do it.
Red blooded and we'll all go,
Into the river below.
I'm running from the inferno.
They'll think I'm insane but,
Ya'll all know my name.

You can hear this song in it entirety here.

What are some lyrics or, a song, that you identify with?

This will be a regular feature.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Check out this video of some of film & theatre's most intriguing females set to Cyndi Lauper's 80s classic.

Its definitely a favorite of mine this week:

Bloggy, blog, blog.

Hola! How has everyone's weekend been unfolding? Have you tried or done anything new and exciting? Did you drink a tad too much last night? Spend the weekend with grandma? Finish a book?

To be honest, I did none of those things BUT! I did make it to the gym! Hey, that's good!

I just wanted to let you know that I've added quite a little list of new reading material to my all-encompassing blogroll on your left.
They are, in no particular order:

And Your Little Blog, Too!

Camilla Engman , who I used to visit frequently months ago but, lost track of for awhile due to my own blogless spurt, if you will.

Cupcakes and Cashmere

For Me, For You

Krisatomic

and Only Shallow

I am so looking forward to getting to know and love these blogs and the amazing people behind them.

Do you have or know of any blogs that I should see? I'm open to anything however, I'm not really into all design blogs..

Dying for recommendations!

Friday Fill-ins.

1. I enjoy amazing music with meaningful, heartfelt lyrics.

2.The state of our country is something I wonder about often lately.

3. In my heart, I knew Nick didn't love me.

4. Take time, add a likttle patience, and you end up acheiving exactly what you set out to accomplish.

5. Life has gifted me with the ability to really get through to children.

6.A good film is an instant vacation.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to nothing in particular, tomorrow my plans include heading to the gym and Sunday, I want to get groceries.

So, what are YOUR plans for the weekend?

Pictures of MY wedding...

...except, its not exactly MY wedding..

Alison Conklin guest blogged over at Toujours Complexe over the weekend & she shared some of the most incredible wedding photos that I have ever laid eyes upon. \

The bride, Suzanne, had what I consider to be the ultimate sense of style; vintage with a bit of a modern twist. Check out the bright red lipstick (oh so 40s pinup), together with the thick eyeliner:

And, the otherwise understated makeup on her alabaster skin is absolutely gorgeous!

The bride told Alison, her photographer, that she first discovered her veil and then proceeded to design her entire look based on it:

Gosh, don't her bright blue eyes just pop?!

They make a lovely couple, as well:

God, it looks like they're standing in the middle of a medeival castle!

I cannot wait to create something a kin to this for my future partner and I.
Ohh, I can hear Glenn in the background as I type!

Have you got your perfect wedding all planned out in your mind as well? I think every girl has! If you're married, did your wedding pan out exactly as you had had planned since you were twelve?

Do tell!

Jen Khoshbin.

Jen Khoshbin is an artist who's work is created by the use of books a sculptural pieces.

I like all four projects, which are listed on her site but, my favorite has to be book project 4 :

In this series of familiar, often iconic images, I combine photographs with intricately carved text.
This combination creates a series of conceptual pieces that address memory and nostalgia - Asking: what have I missed or misunderstood.

Discription from her site.

Thanks to Ali for bringing this incredible artist to my attention.

Sacrilege?

Photobucket

Now, I'll be the first to admit, I am ALL for taboo topics, alternative anything, etc. however, when its disrespectful toward any group of individuals or beliefs, I tend to take offense. Having grown up around Catholicism, what with my father's family belonging to the church, I am appalled at this photographic set , sans the photo at the beginning of this post, which I fell is lovely, tasteful, and reminiscent of a Renaissance painting. The rest are disrespectful, tawdry, and cheap.

It sort of pisses me off, actually.

Sound off, please.

Mascara is rather creepy..

Here's an ode to the advantages that a little makeup can offer, done in great 40s musical style with Betty Grable and June Haver:

My best birthday party

consisted of a Lamb Chop birthday cake, and a rousing game of "put your right hand in, put your right hand out..." lead by Barney, the now disturbing purple dinosaur, except, Barney should've have been named Barnadette or something because, as you can hear being whispered by a few of my little friends on the videotaped evidence, BARNEY IS NOT A LADY!!

Justifyingly, also evident on the tape in question, I was peeved at this development and hence made my mother miserable by my complete lack of appreciation for paying the enormous amount of money I'm certain was called for in order for this atrocious excuse of an overly excited, fat, and apparently transgendered purple dinosaur. In other words, I was being an ungrateful little brat and it is all recorded.

But, that Lamb Chop birthday cake was pretty freaking sweet though so, it sort of evens out. Well not really but, I did love that cake. I didn't even want to eat it but, I don't think it would've kept this long you know? It was my 6th birthday party, after all...

The point of this post is actually to point out another blogger's post.

Andrea helped little Ava pull off the 8th birthday part of her dreams with the requested theme being "Chinese".

Le post is here.

and you can see all of the birthday fun here.

Gosh, kids nowadays are terribly sophisticated, no?

So, my question, obviously, is what birthday was your favorite? What was the theme? What makes it stick out so vividly? What was the cake like? Haha.

Oooh, SCANDALOUS!

Here's a little ditty I am now obsessing over, I absolutely LOVE IT. It makes me grin like a jack-o-lantern! My Girl's Pussy by Harry Roy & his Bat Club Boys, recorded in 1931.
Thankies to Amy for bringing it to my attention.
