Sunny Side Up! is a place for me, a gal who is 21 years of age and unanimously recognized in her tiny universe as an 'old soul', to store a few of my favorite things & to share them with new and (hopefully) friendly individuals.
1.) I finally got a hula hoop today. (Last one too!) So, I'm going to teach myself that to add a bit of fun variety to my exercise routine. 2.) I got that paper to fill out and send to Harrisburg requesting my GED transcripts so, after that's done, I'll be all set to apply for college! 3.) My mother was in a bad mood today and instead of snapping back, I stayed calm and told her she was hurting my feelings. She apologized. 4.) I finished Wonderland and started Revolutionary Road. 5.) I made someone vey happy today by offering a sincere compliment.
I must admit, embarrassingly, I have never traveled outside the U.S., sans Canada so, when I set my eyes on these breathtaking photographs of cities from around the world, I felt like going to get my vaccinations and heading to "anywhere but here."
I happened across artist Jean Shin today and, I fell in love with quite a few of her art installations. I'm really more of a 'classic' art lover as opposed to modern art, if you know what I mean but, the way that Jean takes completely UNartistic articles and transforms them into things of amazement and wonder should appeal to anyone who enjoys any sort of quirkiness the way I do!
There are a slew of works to view on her site, linked above but, a few favorites of mine are:
TEXTile; comprised of 22,528 recycled computer keycaps and 192 custom keycaps, fabric, with a customized active keyboard & interactive software:
Soundwave; Comprised of melted records on wooden armature:
Chemical Balance II; Comprised of Prescription bottles, mirror and epoxy: Be sure to go see what else she's created!
Ahhhh. Today is one of those days, you know? A day where its damn near impossible to find grace in anything. However, here we are:
1.) I love how every time I go near my dog Whitey, he stands on his hind legs and 'reaches' for me with his front paws. 2.) I love the tangy, minty fresh feeling that toothpaste leaves in my mouth after I'm finished brushing. 3.) I like how the above statement starts out sounding like one of those commercials for Orbit gum. 4.) I like finding surprisingly enough, really good movies on On Demand's Free Movie section to watch because, television sucks it. 5.) I love hot tea at 10 PM.
1.) The fact that last night, I purchased the following mini dress (and, I've always wanted a mini dress, mind you.) in this lovely paisley print in order to ease the stress that comes with transitioning from winter to spring because, its a swell stress reliever. Hey! I bought it to better myself, 'kay? ;-) 2.)Whenever my kitchen is stocked with scrumptious apples, grapes, pears, and other miscellaneous fruit stuffs to add to my vanilla yogurt as a delicious alternative to a great big piece of cake. 3.)The fact that my cat woke me this morning by snoring at an incredible sound level for a cat and, in my drowsiness, allowing that dream I was having to continue ever so slightly into the first few seconds of consciousness because, he sounded so similar to a male of the human persuasion. 4.)In all seriousness, my therapy sessions and the fact that I've finally kicked myself in the ass enough times to return to them on a regular basis because, although I often do not want to go that day, when I leave, I'm ever so glad I went. 5.)Taking walks on days that are fairly decent for such an activity with my IPod blasting in my ears, causing me to speed walk to the beat.
And number 4:
1.)The satisfaction I feel as I close the cover of a book that I've just finished. 2.) The excitement and joy of choosing what I would like to read next. 3.)I know its bad but, I love cracking my knuckles. It feels good, I can't help it. 4.)Every time someone is surprised by my taste in well, everything. 5.) Waitress , (2007); and Andy Griffith portraying a dirty minded, lovable old curmudgeon of a man.
I adore these guys: THE BEATLES That's right, I love 'em.
Since birth, the greatness that was this 1960s mega group has been ingrained into my being. My father was an avid fan and as a small child, I was all about blasting some Penny Lane on my family's old record player.
So, I've been thinking, IF you enjoy these four mop topped boys from Liverpool the way I do, I have a question or two.
Ready? Okay!
1.) If you can, (and I know its hard, admittedly, I can't pick just one myself), what Beatles song really set your feets to tappin' with the most vigor and enthusiasm? I flip flop on this issue every few months or so. A few months ago, I was very much about the Psychedelic Era Beatles, a la Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, For the Benefit of Mr. Kite, and When I'm 64. Now, this month, I can't get enough of their later, more guitar infused, rocking songs like Revolution, Why Don't We Do It in the Road, and Let it Be.
2.) In a similar vein, what ERA of The Beatles do you prefer? I've always had a taste for their later endeavors as opposed to their early 60s poppy sound. When I think about it, I guess I am definitely a late 60s kind of gal. The longer hair, the slight beard? SO much more attractive then their closely cropped couiffures and their smooth as a baby's bottom faces in my mind.
3.) Favorite Beatles moment or memory? I think its hilarious how John Lennon stated that The Beatles were "bigger than Jesus Christ." and every Alma, Mildred, and Rose in America proceeded to ban such 'filth' from their child's record player. I don't know why I love that moment so much so, don't ask why. I'm just badass in that general fashion.
4.) What Beatles records do you have in your possession? Nowadays I get most of my music transferred to the almighty IPod but, I have my share of Beatles CDs including; Beatles, 1; Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour, and Beatles: Anthology.
And, last but certainly not least by any means;
5.) Who is YOUR favorite member of The Fab Four? No words needed, am I right?
In conclusion, I leave thee with some of my favorite goodies:
1.) Old music redone by today's artists, with a modern twist; a la The Puppini Sisters. 2.) Burberry Brit , and the way it smells on me. 3.) Singing along to my favorite songs in the car & then when the song is over, my mother looking at me and saying, "Hey! That was good, Kris!" 4.) Older ladies from the south, especially Georgia, and their adorable accents and sweet dispositions. 5.) Born in a Trunk Medley from A Star is Born, (1954).
my tastes are eclectic, to say the least.
I love the 40s and 50s, pre-code Hollywood, Broadway, crooners and songbirds, day dressses and red lips and nails; everything Grandma misses, I prefer.
Lucille Desiree Ball has saved me from the throngs of death. She's constantly on my television and in my heart.
I would love to get to know as many of you incredible people as I can. I've been an incessant blog reader/lurker for awhile now but, expect that to change dramatically as I allow my thoughts and opinions to pour forth without inhibitions on this, my baby blog, and in comments throughout the blogosphere.
I hope you won't mind. :-)
